The Problem

There is a critical shortage of people entering the workforce with the skills, aptitude and desire to work in both general labor and skilled trades today, including in the industrial sector and vehicle repair shops.  According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 40% of the workers in these sectors are over the age of 45. With such a challenge in hiring and retaining talent, turnover reduction and keeping older workers on the job and productive becomes invaluable.  In addition to age-related work limitations, repetitive motion and sprains/strains are a serious concern for employers, and the costs are significant.

In 2020, nearly 88,000 Americans injured their knees while at work and about 40% of them needed to miss at least a month of work, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). According to 2023 data from the National Safety Council, the average workers’ comp knee injury settlement is $35,332. The average back injury settlement for a workers’ comp claim is $75,599.  This is based on nearly 100 workers’ compensation claims that include a back injury that were recorded by Thomson Reuters in the last 5 years (between 2019 and 2024).  Current strategies to deal with the problem include adapting production lines with platforms and personal assistance devices (exoskeletons), expensive automation/robotics in the manufacturing sector, and simple non-adaptable rolling stools and creepers in the vehicle repair sector.  These solutions have not fully addressed the issues of escalating workers comp claims.

Our Solution

Human Hoist currently sells and supports 3 specific products, each of which are industrial-grade, powered by rechargeable lithium battery power:

●      Human Hoist Stool: Supports customers who need enhanced mobility while maneuvering up, down and around their work.  The Stool moves easily from 28” high to as low as 6” off the floor, utilizing a patented “tension arm” positioning system.

●      Human Hoist Chair: All the benefits of the Stool, plus the ability to lie completely flat, 4” off the floor, to glide under the work target as needed.  The Chair utilizes a patented design to remain balanced and stable, even when moving, leaning over, or moving up and down.

●      Human Hoist Drive: All the benefits of the Chair, plus the ability to utilize a powered-drive feature, for those users with limited lower-body mobility.

By embracing innovative, worker-centric solutions, we can protect our most valuable resource—our people—and build a stronger future for skilled labor.
